I am Here!

I arrived in Quito. It is a huge city with many lights. The Hotel Eugenia is a delightful hotel in the new part of the city. It has inner courtyards and my room is away from the hustle and bustle of the city noises. My room has a view of the interior courtyard and it is very appealing. I will be going to the Otavalo Market tomorrow, about 2 hours out of town to see the weavings of the natives. It is a bit cool here, about 62, but it is a nice change from the heat of Miami. I have been speaking Spanish and at least people are understanding me! Buenas nochas for now.

The stars have aligned!

Well, it is the night before the trip and I am soooo psyched! I will be in Quito, Ecuador tomorrow where the weather is about 65 during the day and the 50's at night. It will be a bit chilly for my Miami blood, but I will file away the cooler weather and save it for the stifling July and August heat when I can't breathe and need a/c to function. The Hotel Eugenia, in Quito will be expecting me around dinner time. If I can get on their computer, I will blog and tell you all about my daily adventures in the city and beyond. You might have to wait until I return to hear about the turtles, iguanas and snorkeling with the sea lions though as the sail boat has no internet. But that is ok. Nice to be without technology for awhile, right? See you soon.

Love,
K

It is said that things happen for a reason, so I canceled the original trip to the Galapagos. I just had a strange feeling that all wasn't right. Now I re-booked with another tour company, which I hope is more reputable. I will be leaving on April 30th, so I only have three weeks! Time to get moving. I have my water shoes, back pack and guide to Ecuador. And of course, my camera! Can't leave without that. Hope to have all my family and friends following me to South America via my blog.
Love,
K

Here I go again!

Well, it is getting to be that time again! Travel time. Time to fill up the old suitcase, stuff the old backpack and hang the Nikon around my neck. Time to go. This trip is going to be amazing! I will spend 10 days in Ecuador, including the Galapagos Islands. Stand where Darwin stood and see what he saw. The tortoises, the blue-footed boobies, the finches! I will try to post each day with some great photos of these islands and their inhabitants. I can't wait! I hope you will follow me on this fantastic adventure.
